Constipation and Sluggish Bowels

Constipation and sluggish bowels are common problems. A person challenged by these problems is advised to increase their fiber, increase their fluid intake, and exercise more. The fiber and water shorten the transit time of digesting material through the large intestine. Exercise increases the rate of transit, or peristalsis. Some of the most helpful kinds of exercise are those that move the body forward through space, such as walking, and those that involve twisting of the trunk, such as yoga, hula hooping, and the crawl stroke when swimming.

When these measures are not sufficient to solve the problem, it is wise to clear out any restrictions in the abdomen and pelvis such as scars, adhesions, or micro-adhesions. Manual therapy in the clinic and at home using the Healing Below the Belt System can help to achieve the clearing of restrictions. Ria does these clinical treatments, or you can learn how do them at home following the instructions in the Healing Below the Belt DVD and manual.
