The Sauna

Take a healthful sauna with a friend

The sauna at HealthWise Resources is a far-infrared or “FIR” sauna. This is different from typical saunas, because it is said to penetrate more deeply and at a lower temperature than in non-“FIR” saunas. The cost for a half-hour visit is a very affordable $10. Think of it as a mini-vacation. Bring a friend and their sauna will be free. Same price for one as for two: only $10.

Enthusiasts of the far-infrared “FIR” sauna make numerous claims about benefits to skin, muscles, and the body in general. There is a shortage of large peer-reviewed double-blind studies to substantiate these claims. We make no claims that this sauna can heal or cure any condition or disease. Instead we invite you to try the sauna and see for yourself what it can do for you. Some of the reported benefits are:

Reduced pain & Swelling

Relax in the Far Infra-red Sauna

The energy released by an infrared sauna is said to penetrate up to 1.5 inches deep into muscles; 90% of this energy is absorbed through skin. Heat dilates surface blood vessels which is said to reduce joint stiffness, muscle spasms and aches in chronic conditions like fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Detoxification

The skin is our largest organ; it plays a big role in eliminating toxins. The deep penetration of infrared hea ti s aid to allow removal of materials stored in cells such as mercury and lead, as well as alcohol, nicotine, sodium, sulfuric acid and cholesterol.

Calorie Burning

While sitting in the “FIR” sauna, the body works to maintain constant core remperature. The body does this by increasing skin blood flow and by sweating. While reported figures vary widely, it is likely that a half-hour sauna can burn at least 250 calories.

Improved Flexibility

The warmth of a “FIR” sauna is said to improve range of motion. Tissues heated and stretched are said to have more length whick persists after the stretch is finished. Therapeutic benefits are also reported in ligaments, scars, tendons, fascia, and joint capsules.

Allergy Control

The itchiness and stuffiness of allergies are reported to be improved with the “FIR” sauna.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Multiple sclerosis, high blood pressure, heart failure, or lupus.
